Please let us know if this doesn't work for you.

Players and faction (which I randomized)

Russ - The English
Andy - The Ottomans
Bod - The Papacy
Peter - The Protestants
Martin - The Valois Dynasty of France (to use the game's name for the faction)
Barry - The Habsburgs

If anyone desparately wants to change their faction, post here and suggest a change.

As I stated in my previous post, I think that reading the "Here I Stand in 20 minutes" summary is a must for all players. For those who can (and want to do so), they can read the rulebook too.

The Protestant and Papacy players should (if they can) read about the religious actions/conflicts they can do.

Andy, please read up on the piracy rules.

Martin (I think) and Barry (and me too), please read up on the new world exploration actions.

Keep in mind that there's a formal diplomatic phase in each turn in which deals can be struck. The binding parts of the negotiations are those which involve transfer of cards, keys (spaces on the board), loan of navies, etc, i.e. things that *immediately* change the state of the game. Promises to do things in the future mean nothing in the sense that they are non-binding.
